Now that you’ve adjusted all of your settings, you are ready to export. This way you’ll be sure that it is compatible with most current versions of Sketchup. In the Modify DWG/DXF Export Setup window, I typically change the “Export to file format” way back to AutoCAD 2007 Format. It is the obscure ellipsis button in the Select Export Setup section of the DWG Export window (see screenshot below). To change this setting, click the Modify Export Setup button. Sketchup typically doesn’t support newer versions of CAD file types, so you’ll want to make sure you have a compatible version of the AutoCAD DWG after export. One important detail that often gets overlooked when transitioning your model from Revit to Sketchup is the DWG file version. Once the relevant views are displayed, simply check the box under the Include column to select the 3D views to be exported from Revit to Sketchup. If you don’t see the 3D views that you created in step one, you might need to change the Export dropdown to and the Show in list dropdown to Views in Model as shown in the screenshot below. In this DWG Export window, you are presented with several options including the option to select multiple views to be exported in batch. Within Revit, navigate to the File menu and choose Export > CAD Formats > DWG. Now that you have your model prepped, you are ready to export your 3D views as individual model as the next step in transitioning from Revit to Sketchup. There are a number of ways to control visibility in Revit, so I’ll leave it up to you to decide what works best for you. ![]() In the screenshot to the right, you can see that I’ve created an individual 3D view for Doors, Roofs, Walls and Windows, however the view named “Export – Site” actually has the Parking, Planting, and Topography model categories set to visible because for this project, it makes sense to have all site elements in one exported model. Although Sketchup maintains layers for visibility, it is still much easier to manage when individual models contain a common model category. Export Models by Model CategoryĪnother technique that can help when exporting Revit to Sketchup is to export multiple models which contain a few model categories rather than one model containing all model categories. As shown later in this tutorial, it can be difficult to align the multiple models in Sketchup without these lines to snap to. I highly recommend that you draw a set of model lines around your Revit model to use as a reference after imported to Sketchup. ![]() ![]() On the surface, it can seem fairly simple to export Revit to Sketchup, but here are some techniques that should make your life a little easier before importing to Sketchup. In part one, we’ll cover the process from the Revit side of the workflow, where you will prep your model for export. In this post, we will cover the less common workflow of going from Revit to Sketchup and discuss some recommended techniques and some common errors to watch out for. It’s a common workflow for designers to turn to Sketchup during the early phases of a building design because jumping straight into Revit model is often more time consuming. ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, since a voltage is the control signal in this case, we will assume that no current flows into (or out of) terminal Z. This voltage now needs to be referenced with respect to one of the two other terminals and we will use terminal Y for our purposes here. The voltage on terminal Z now controls the amount of current in terminals X and Y. The ratio of IX to IY which is always less than unity, is also a measure of the device gain and is most often represented by the Greek letter α (alpha).įor the voltage controlled device let's assume, as we did before, that the current flows into terminal X and out terminal Y. The ratio of IX to IZ is the gain of the device and the Greek letter β (beta) is used to represent this gain. To make the device useful it would be desirable to have the control current IZ very small relative to the much larger controlled current IX. Conservation of charge tells us that the sum of the currents flowing into a box must equal the sum of the currents flowing out. In the case of a current controlled device, let's assume that the control current IZ, flows into terminal Z and back out terminal Y. The same can be said for the voltage seen at terminal Z with respect to terminal Y and voltage VZY is a positive number. Because current flows into terminal X, we generally assume the voltage seen at X is greater than terminal Y and voltage VXY is a positive number. To describe the function of this block we first need to define the terminal currents IX, IY and IZ, and the terminal voltages VXY and VZY as shown in the figure. The third terminal, Z, is the control terminal. Let's also assume that the controlled current flows into terminal X and back out terminal Y. It has three terminals we will call them X, Y and Z for the moment. It is sometimes incorrectly attributed to a contraction of transresistance.Ī simple and general form of such a device is shown in figure 8.1.1. The first type of transistor successfully demonstrated was a current-controlled device.Īs a side note: The origin of the term transistor is a contraction of “transconductance varistor”, as Devices working on the principle of one current controlling another current are known as current-controlled devices. Devices utilizing a voltage as the controlling signal are, not surprisingly, called voltage-controlled devices. One type of active device uses a voltage to control the current while another type of active devices uses another current to be the controlling signal. All active devices control the flow of current through them. For a circuit to be called electronic, it must contain at least one active device. An active device is any type of component with the ability to electrically control the flow of current (controlling one electric signal with another electric signal). ![]() ![]() Microsoft Office 2013 Microsoft Office 2016 Product key, microsoft, text, logo, microsoft Office png 1600x763px 153.68KB.Windows Excel logo, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Pivot table Xls, Drawing Excel, angle, text, rectangle png 1024x1024px 33.73KB.Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft Office 2013 Microsoft Word, OneNote, text, rectangle, logo png 1024x780px 61.42KB.Microsoft Office logo, Microsoft Office 2007 Microsoft Office 2010 Microsoft Office 365, office, text, logo, office png 1600圆13px 91.49KB.blue and white mail icon, Microsoft Office 2016 Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, blue, text, rectangle png 1024x1024px 114.93KB.Logo Office 365 Microsoft Office 2016 Microsoft Corporation, microsoft access logo, angle, text, orange png 4395x2472px 103.38KB.Microsoft Outlook logo, Microsoft Outlook Email Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, blue, text, logo png 1729圆54px 22.68KB.Computer Icons Microsoft PowerPoint Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel, microsoft, text, presentation, logo png 512x512px 5.83KB.Microsoft Windows Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Office, Microsoft Logo s, text, rectangle, triangle png 880圆60px 4.64KB.Microsoft Word logo, Computer Icons Microsoft PowerPoint Microsoft Office, Word, angle, text, rectangle png 1600x1600px 14.47KB.Microsoft Word Microsoft Office 2016 Microsoft Excel, microsoft, template, blue, angle png 2000x2000px 74.98KB.Microsoft Excel Computer Icons Microsoft Office Microsoft Word, microsoft, angle, text, rectangle png 675x372px 5.75KB.Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft Excel Logo, microsoft, angle, text, rectangle png 513圆15px 5.29KB.Microsoft Visio Microsoft Access Diagram Microsoft Project, microsoft, blue, angle, text png 2000x2000px 74.94KB.Computer Icons Microsoft PowerPoint, power point, text, rectangle, logo png 1600x1600px 15.25KB.Microsoft Word Microsoft Office 2016, microsoft, text, logo, microsoft Office png 600x584px 81.32KB.Microsoft Access Database Microsoft Office 2013, office, angle, text, rectangle png 1043x1024px 43.72KB.Microsoft Office 2016 Microsoft Word Microsoft Office 2013, microsoft, blue, text, trademark png 779x400px 16.83KB.Microsoft Excel Microsoft Office 2016 Microsoft Office 365, microsoft, template, rectangle, logo png 1024圆40px 73.61KB.Microsoft Office 2016 logo, Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft Office 2016 Computer Software, Icon Office 365 Library, angle, text, rectangle png 500x500px 11.8KB.Microsoft Excel Microsoft Project Logo Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Excel logo, angle, text, microsoft Office png 1025x550px 7.17KB.Office 365 Text, MICROSOFT OFFICE, Microsoft Office 2019, Microsoft Office 2013, Microsoft Office 2016, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office 2010, Office Suite, Office 365, MICROSOFT OFFICE, Microsoft Office 20x880px 92.11KB.Microsoft Office 2016 Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft PowerPoint, office, text, rectangle, orange png 1024x1024px 88.16KB.Microsoft Publisher Microsoft Office 365 Computer Software Microsoft Word, microsoft, angle, text, rectangle png 2000x2000px 56.67KB.Microsoft Office 2016 Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word, microsoft, text, logo, office png 1250x596px 35.45KB.Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation slide Presentation program, microsoft, text, rectangle, presentation png 1043x1024px 24.69KB.Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft Office 2016, office, angle, rectangle, orange png 864x1024px 16.76KB. ![]() Microsoft icons, Microsoft Office 365 Computer Software Microsoft Office 2016, Word, text, computer, logo png 1700x1100px 40.66KB.Microsoft Excel Training Computer Software Microsoft Office, excel, template, angle, text png 550x550px 40.6KB.Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft Excel Microsoft Office 2016, microsoft, text, rectangle, logo png 817x817px 137.71KB.Microsoft Excel illustration, Microsoft Excel Microsoft Office macOS, Excel, rectangle, logo, microsoft png 1024x1024px 115.11KB.Microsoft Word Word processor Document, wordpad, template, blue, angle png 2080x2080px 53.66KB.Microsoft Word thumbnail, Microsoft Word Microsoft Office 365 Document, microsoft, blue, angle, text png 2000x2000px 78.37KB.Microsoft Excel Logo Microsoft Word Microsoft Office 365 Pivot table, Excel Office Xlsx Icon, Microsoft Excel logo, template, angle, text png 2000x2000px 63.04KB. ![]() ![]() ![]() Note that A starts multiple entries, and also note that how you translate a C stroke depends on whether you've previously seen an A, a B, or you're starting fresh.Īlso note that (although not shown in the very small sample above), there may be multiple ways to "play" the same word or phrase, rather than just one. (Those letters aren't meant to be musical notes, just abstract markers.) For instance (and I won't use real steno here, just placeholders), there may be these entries: A = alpha Frequently, there will be several entries with the same starting stroke which are differentiated by their length and by the subsequent strokes. The dictionary will have entries where the stenographic part ("steno", for short) is one stroke long, or multiple strokes long. Although they'll be heavily influenced by the school at which they studied, each stenographer will have their own "dictionary" of what strokes they use to mean what, a dictionary they will continuously hone over the course of their working lives. Like syllables, sometimes one stroke (chord) has meaning all on its own, other times it only has meaning combined with following strokes. Strokes frequently (but not always) correspond to a syllable of spoken language. They call this a "stroke" of the keyboard it's like playing a chord on the piano. In machine stenography, the stenographer writes by pressing multiple keys on the stenotype machine at the same time, then releasing them all. Update: More about the "dictionary" of chords to keystrokes:īasically, the dictionary is a trie (thanks, that we search with longest-prefix matching. (I'm a big fan of Java, but the interfaces that operating systems use to talk to device drivers tend to be more easily consumed via C and similar.) That may well be sufficient for your purposes - it's where I'd start, because the device driver route is going to be awkward and you'd probably have to use a different language for it than Java. Windows has an interface for doing that (probably several, the one I'm thinking of is SendInput but I know there's some "journal" interface that does something similar), and I'm sure other operating systems do as well. However, since you're just generating keystrokes (not trying to intercept them, which I was trying to do years ago), you may be able to use whatever features the operating system has for sending artificial keystrokes. For Windows and Linux, you're probably going to want to use C for that. This is a plug-in to the operating system that serves as a source for keyboard events, talking to the underlying hardware (in your case, the piano keyboard). To be most broadly-compatible with software, you'd have to write this as a keyboard device driver. Outputting the keystrokes to the computer.Converting that data into the keystrokes you want to send, e.g.Edit: Apparently, the Java Sound API supports MIDI, including receiving events from MIDI controllers. Don't try to do this yourself, use a library. (Can you tell I used to work in the software side of machine stenography?) As with machine stenography, you'd need a "dictionary" of the meanings of chords and sequences of chords. Chording in particular could be a very powerful technique - as I mentioned in the comments, it's why rank-and-file stenographers can use a stenotype machine to keep up with people talking for hours in a row, when even top-flight typists wouldn't be able to for any length of time via normal typewriter-style keyboards. These events carry a "velocity" number on keyboards that are velocity sensitive ("touch sensitive"), with a force of (you guessed it) between 0 and 127.īetween velocity, chording, and the pedals, I'd think you could come up with quite a good "typing" interface for the piano keyboard. MIDI is a stream of "events" (or "messages"), two of the most fundamental being "note on" and "note off" which carry with them the note number (0 = C five octaves below middle C, through 127 = G five octaves above the G above middle C, in semi-tones). I haven't done any MIDI programming in years, but your fundamental idea is very sound (no pun). ![]() ![]() ![]() The vast majority of Hollywood movies are made using Avid’s Media Composer, followed – in a distant … The most commonly used ones are Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premier Pro, Final Cut X Pro, Autodesk Maya, Lightworks, and Fusions 17.
